Kin

A project to help family members get paid, through Medicare, to coordinate care for aging parents.

Kin is the project described in the August 24, 2026 essay. The idea is to help family members get paid, through Medicare, for care-coordination work they already do for aging parents. The essay says Andy is looking for a small group of founding doctors in California so the project can be set up, and names cofounder Kev.

The essay traces the idea to Andy’s dad’s open-heart surgery in 2023, and to conversations with friends and family who had cared for their own parents. It describes two Medicare billing codes, PIN (principal illness navigation) and CHI (community health integration), and says Kin would handle the legal and billing setup and charge a flat fee. It says the first families would be in California.
